PUSSY GALORE

Pussy Galore se formó en Washington D.C en 1985, tomando su nombre de un personaje de la pelicula Goldfinger de James Bond. Su primera formación consistió en Jon Spencer (previamente partícipe de Shithaus,una banda de noise industrial), Julie Cafritz y el baterista John Hamill. La formación fue cambiando (sobre todo al mudarse a NY), incluyendo posteriormente al guitarrista Neil Hagerty, luego Bob Bert (ex batería en Sonic Youth) en reemplazo de Hamill, y finalmente Kurt Wolf se sumaría en guitarra a partir de 1988. Su sonido, usualmente referenciado con el término Scumrock, se caracteriza por la carencia de un bajo, siendo 3 guitarras cargadas de distorsión,mugre, disonancias,riffs garageros y una batería equipada de un tanque metálico de nafta y diversos accesorios de chatarra percusivos. Esto último le da un toque aún más podrido a la explosión que Pussy Galore ofrece, una banda influenciada con elementos de los Rolling Stones, Stooges, Devo, Black Flag, NY Dolls, Einsturzende Neubaten, Whitehouse y todas esas bandas sesentosas de garage psicodélicos (muchas que trataban de sonar a los Stones) pasadas por una licuadora de poderosos, sexys y (como diría un buen amigo mio) cancheros ruidos.
